Biographical Sketch
Bruce Dubin, DO is a 1973 graduate of the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dubin completed an internal medicine residency program at Martin Place Hospital in Madison Heights, Michigan; and a fellowship program in Allergy and Clinical Immunology at the National Jewish Hospital / University of Colorado Medical Center in 1978. From 1978 - thru 1987 Dr. Dubin was in private practice in Madison Heights, Michigan where he served as the Director for the Center for Asthma, Emphysema and Allergic Disorders in Southfield, Michigan. Dubin also served as member of the Executive Committee for the American Lung Association of Southeast Michigan and during that time helped found “Camp Sundeer,” a free camp for asthmatic children in Michigan. Dr. Dubin became the Director of Medical Education at Oakland General Hospital from 1989 - 1995. Dr. Dubin attended the University of Detroit College of Law during that time period and graduated Cum Laude. After graduation, Dubin was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan as well as the Federal Bar. During the 1994 – 1995 academic year, Dubin became a health policy fellow in the newly established program, jointly sponsored by Michigan State University and Ohio University. He has been a faculty member for the Health Policy Fellowship program ever since that time, and serves as one of the programs advisors. Between 1995 – 1998, Dr. Dubin served as the Vice President of Medical Education at Grandview Hospital and Medical Center, in Dayton, Ohio. While at Grandview, Dubin also served as the Medical Director for DOPMI, the hospital owned physician practice group. He also served as a member of the executive team that helped establish the corporate merger between Grandview Hospital and the Kettering Health System in Dayton. From 1998 thru 2002, Dubin was an Associate Dean at the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine and an Associate Professor of Health Policy and Medical Jurisprudence in the Department of Social Medicine at Ohio University. While at Ohio University, Dubin oversaw information technology, helped establish new international rotations for medical students, helped form the first International Consortium for Traditional Chinese Medicine, oversaw the Center of Excellence for Minority Medical Students, and taught pulmonary medicine and medical jurisprudence. Dubin also headed the college group responsible for the medical schools accreditation process. Dr. Dubin served as the Associate Dean and Professor of Internal Medicine at the newly established Edward via College of Osteopathic Medicine from 2002 – 2003, and is currently the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, as well as an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine. Dr. Dubin has been the Principal Investigator on many grants and has received numerous honors and awards. Among these is the Award for Excellence in Pre - Doctoral Medical Education, awarded by Association of Directors of Medical Education in 2000. While at TCOM Dr. Dubin has initiated new curricular designs and innovative programs in the training of medical students. Some of these areas include medical informatics, evidence based medicine, and Rural Medicine. He has also developed the schools new “Application Based” medical curriculum and incorporated programs like the “eye for detail” sessions and training in bio-terrorism as a regular part of the medical school curriculum.
